Quito…the city that whispers. One night halfway into the week. I went to the balcony of the house we were staying at with Walter. He encouraged me with my battle against cigarettes and addiction. That I should fight for my health. For me once again the mission worked inside of my heart more than I think I worked in any person through the mission week. But maybe God has better plans than my own. I hope so. But what struck me. As I looked upon thousands of houses against the incredible background of mountains piercing through the clouds. Was silence. Incredible peace and silence unexplainable for the amount of life in such concentration. I could hear my own breath and heartbeat. In that moment I imagined the Lord. Looking upon us. As we all navigate life and through the darkness He sees us. He reaches down from Heaven into our hearts and loves us. He filled me with peace and love in that moment beyond understanding. He is our Father in heaven. Always attentive to our hearts thoughts and soul.

I’m so grateful to meet the men of La Roca. Each of them taught me so many valuable lessons. Each of them mature dignified men of God. It was an honor and privilege to be amongst them and spend a moment in life I will never forget. A refreshing experience that reminded my spirit to endure and be grateful for life.
Shane you were a great addition to the team and I am blessed to have you be a part of the La Roca mission. All of the boys there admired your spirit and perseverance to come through all that you have. And the fact that you were so boldly willing to share your story certainly had an impact. Thank you for saying yes
